Hello STEM students. I hope everyone is okay and safe. As you may know, for the next several weeks - at least until April 27 - all instruction for our STEM class will be given though this website or email. No new material will be presented and no assignments will be given or collected. However, during this time of our school closure I will email extension activities to our App Creators unit. Although these activities will be considered optional, my hope is that you take time to work on them.
Every Monday (except during Spring Break) I will email you a different App Creators challenge. My expectation is that you review the challenge, do what you can, have fun with it and email me any questions you have.
Below are some details to help you:
- In case you've forgotten your PLTW user name and password, I've created one single user name and password for anyone to use:
Username: generstude95716
Password: password1
- App Creators website: http://code.appinventor.mit.edu/
- Instructions on how to set up App Creator on your computer, connect to an Android device wirelessly, connect through an USB cable, or use the included emulator: http://appinventor.mit.edu/explore/library
- I've attached a copy of all the codes we've used (remember the black binder?) in the Links and Files section of this website. It is there you'll find any other files I add.
- There are hundred's of resources on YouTube and other sites dedicated to App Inventor. If you are stuck, I suggest you perform a quick internet search and see if you can find an answer.
Now, to be honest, it will be difficult for me to help you set up App Inventor on your computers or help you connect to a hand-held device by WiFi or USB connections. However, if you follow the instructions at http://appinventor.mit.edu/explore/library most of your questions will be answered.
All that said, I do want you to feel free to reach out to me with your questions, even concerning connection issues, and I will do all I can to help. Please keep in mind I can only communicate with you through email.
